14'726 km for Mongolia

The official rally 2018 begins in Bern with the goal being Ulan Bator, the capitol of Mongolia. The route goes through most of Europe and Asia and will undoubtedly be an unforgettable adventure for each participant. What's special about the Mongolian rally is that there is no prize to be won and is therefore of no consequence who arrives there first. The journey is the goal. In addition, every participant tries to collect as much money as possible for charitable institutions.

Route

We have decided to take the southern route, not primarily through Russia. We will, in all likelihood, be travelling through the following countries:

Europe 

France, Belgium, Germany, Austria, Slovakia, Hungary and Bulgaria

alternative; ferry to Georgia

The Caucacus 

Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan (possibly Iran)

alternative; ferry to Turkmenistan depending on the political situation (Visa)

The Silk Road 

Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Russia, Mongolia

Charity Rally for Mongolia

The participants of the Mongolia Charity Rally 2018 will travel from Bern to Ulan Bator in Mongolia. Each team chooses his own route whereby the goal is not necessarily who will arrive there the fastest. In Ulan Bator all teams deliver their vehicle and collected donations to the charity organization Go Help which supports programs in healthcare and education in central Asia.

The vehicle and part of the donation can otherwise be donated to a self specified charity organization of one's choice.

Our goal with this challenging journey is to provide worthwile assistance, both financially and materially, to the mongolian people. 

The next rally starts at the beginning of July 2018 in Bern. We, from the team grenzen-los.ch, have planned 8 weeks for the trip to Ulan Bator. We are midst in the preparation stage and are thankful for any assistance. For example we are looking for a suitable vehicle, need partners for equipping the vehicle and are in search of kilometer donations.

Who We Are

Background

We first met at the Academia Engiadina in Samedan Switzerland where we were both studying  tourism. After our studies we lost contact again for several years.

​

Elias Ettlin

After his studies Elias took further education in economics and acquired his ocean sailing license. During that time he spent some time in New York and Moscow and travelled in more than 60 countries.

Marcel Leuenberger 

After a prolonged sojourn of 8 years in the high north by temperatures ranging from -42°C to +35°C and 2 years in Helsinki Marcel returned back to his home in Switzerland.

Our Goal 

Together we would now like to tackle our next big adventure and have decided to participate in the Mongolian Charity Rally to help give new prospects to the children of Mongolia.
